I only caught the beginning of the opening presentation but it was a great lead off to the conference. I really enjoyed the comment by the late Peter Drucker who said that " every single social & global issue of our day is a business opportunity in disguise". I agree with this because there is so many global issues in our day of age such as poverty and the environment and the opportunities are endless for companies all around the world to capitalize on these issues. I also liked Dave Cooperrider's comment on how corporate leaders need to focus equally on shareholders and stakeholders to truly be successful.

Interesting comment Mr. Wilson, but could you elaborate on your statement about Poverty being an issue many companies can capitalize on. Perhaps you could attach an article that speaks to these issues.

I also found that quote that Tom Wilson highlighted very interesting. In response to Mr. Barry's comment, here is a link to an article and book showing how businesses can use poverty to their advantage. Hope this helps answer some of your questions.http://makepovertybusiness.squarespace.com/

Thanks to Mr. Walker's link post, I now have a much better understanding of the relationship between poverty and business based upon the earlier presentation and comment made by the late Peter Drucker who said that " every single social & global issue of our day is a business opportunity in disguise".

Well done!

I agree with what Peter Drucker said about the business opportunity in disguise. We have to change the way we think and do things. To do that, new businesses will have to emerge to fulfill the new way of doing things.
